How Zinga championship selection works
Understand selection cycles, eligible matches, area rankings and the difference between open tournament entry and Zinga championships.
Understand the difference from open entry
Zinga’s open tournaments and its championships have different entry routes. Open competitions use their published registration terms. Championships use a defined selection cycle and eligible rankings. Selection is an invitation to compete, not a promise of winning. Results in the championship decide the winner.
Read the cycle announcement
The announcement sets the period in which eligible performances count, the areas included and any club-type restrictions. Check these details before assuming that a match contributes to selection. The current Zinga model reads rankings from eligible matches within the cycle. Championships themselves do not award the ranking points used to select that field.
Know the individual and club pathways
For individual championships, selected players are drawn from eligible rankings into squads balanced by playing role. For club championships, eligible clubs are selected using their club ranking, and the squad is drawn from members who played during the cycle. A listed player can be replaced only with that player’s consent in the app. Refer to the published announcement for the conditions of a particular championship.
Focus on the cricket you can influence
Keep your player and club details accurate, understand which matches are eligible and follow the cycle dates. Regular participation gives you a record to build on, but participation alone does not guarantee selection. Use the published criteria to plan, and use your match record to guide improvement between competitions.
